Halliburton reports better-than-expected earnings on big North America revenue jump
Halliburton reported on Tuesday quarterly results that topped analysts' expectations amid strong revenue from its North America business. The oilfield services company posted a profit of 18 cents per share on revenue of $3.24 billion for the fourth quarter. The company's North America revenue grew by 26% to $1.4 billion when compared with the previous quarter due to increased drilling activity in the region. CEO Jeff Miller said in a statement he was "optimistic about the activity momentum" in North America, adding he expects international drilling to recover later this year. Amazon hires lobbyist brother of Biden White House counselor
Jeff Ricchetti, the brother of Biden's White House counselor Steve Ricchetti, recently secured a lobbying contract with Amazon, according to a new lobbying disclosure report. Ethics attorneys have previously told CNBC that Steve Ricchetti, who was also once a lobbyist over a decade ago, may have to recuse himself from matters that could impact his brother's clients. A person familiar with the brothers' relationship said they keep their professional lives entirely separate and that Jeff Ricchetti would never lobby Steve Ricchetti. The disclosure report shows that Jeff Ricchetti will be lobbying Amazon on issues pertaining to the coronavirus pandemic and the implementation of the CARES Act. All NFL teams to enter intensive COVID-19 protocol Saturday
The NFL is placing all teams in intensive protocol starting Saturday to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 as the number of cases rises around the country. “These sustained reductions and the resulting health and safety benefits make it appropriate to implement the intensive protocols on a mandatory, league-wide basis,” Goodell said in the memo. So far, 28 teams have entered intensive protocol at some point and 16 teams have done it more than once. "Recent experience has highlighted the importance of minimizing high-risk close contacts; on multiple occasions, we have seen individuals identified on that basis test positive within a short time. It feels like a lot when we talk to the clubs as a behavior change mechanism.”Teams not having been in the intensive protocols are the Jets, Buccaneers, Seahawks and Washington.
