North Carolina's elections board has ousted the agency’s executive director after Republicans gained control.

The first general election ballots for the presidential race are going out as Alabama officials begin mailing them to absentee voters with the Nov. 5 contest less than two months away.

Republicans said the 39-bill package is needed to bolster election security, while Democrats said they’re voter suppression. Clerks said nobody even asked them.
