High school winter contact sports will be reinstated by Whitmer in Thursday press conference
It appears the long shutdown of high school winter contact sports will come to an end. Gretchen Whitmer is expected to announce in a 1:30 p.m. press conference today the reinstatement of all contact winter sports as soon as Monday. No other details surrounding the contact sports safety measures and protocols have been confirmed at this time. Michigan High School Athletic Association representative council member Vic Michaels confirmed the MHSAA will have a 2:30 council meeting on the topic and the MHSAA will host its own press conference shortly after. Athletes, coaches, athletic directors and administrators have been pushing for the reinstatement of the winter contact sports seasons since the shutdown.
