DETROIT – Detroit police are investigating a shooting Monday on the city’s east side resulting in the death of a 42-year-old woman. The shooting happened on Longview Street between Outer Drive and Harper Avenue. Police said the woman was taken to a hospital, where she later died. Police recovered a weapon at the scene but there are no suspects in custody.

DETROIT – Police said a man fatally shot his girlfriend before taking his own life Tuesday night in the 14400 block of Longview Street. Police said a preliminary investigation suggests the 28-year-old man shot the 31-year-old woman about 8 p.m. Another man who was at the home was arrested on unrelated charges.
