Mundy Township firefighter Chad Watson reached out to Hurley’s Public Safety Director Matt Murray inquiring about the annual Glow for Miracles event. Here at Hurley Children’s Hospital, we are always looking for ways to make our pediatric patients feel special,” said Laura Jasso, Administrator Marketing and Community Relations for Hurley. “Having Santa make a special trip to the hospital, even socially distanced outside, reminds our young patients that they aren’t forgotten. The goal, ultimately, was to show the patients in the Pediatrics Department at Hurley Children’s Hospital that Santa Claus hasn’t forgotten them.

The past several weeks have featured several recent Stanley Cup winners breaking up their championship core by saying goodbye to a key player with his name on the trophy. The agitating, go-to-the-net winger helped Pittsburgh win the Cup in 2016 and 2017.

Trade action heats up at NHL draft ahead of free agency

The Penguins got the action started on the second day of the NHL draft by trading goaltender Matt Murray to the Ottawa Senators. “You just know on days like these if you get a phone call from your GM, it’s usually a trade,” Bonino said. The Penguins previously traded winger Patric Hornqvist to Florida, and Chicago traded defenseman Olli Maatta to Los Angeles. Vegas is looking to trade the 35-year-old and even sweeten the deal with a pick but has to deal with an overflowing goalie market. Bonino and new Predators forward Luke Kunin will be swapping jerseys after the trade that continues the Wild's makeover.

Red Wings fall to Penguins, 5-3, lose 11th straight

The Red Wings were penalized for having too many men on the ice shortly thereafter and John Marino sealed the victory with an empty-net goal. The rebuilding Red Wings have lost 11 in a row, their longest losing streak since dropping a franchise-record 14 consecutive games during the 1981-82 season. NOTES: Rust played in his second straight game after missing three in a row with a lower-body injury. ... Malkin entered the game with 26 points in 18 games against the Red Wings. Jared McCann had a goal and two assists, and Evgeni Malkin also scored for the Penguins. Rust took the puck from Islanders center Brock Nelson behind the net and scored on a wraparound 3:25 into the extra session. It was his second goal of the season in five games.
