Covenant House Michigan is hosting its 12th annual Sleep Out, an event designed to shine a light on the struggles young people face when they have nowhere safe to go.

At 21 years old, Shaunetra Morton found herself living in an abandoned home in Detroit with no utilities, food, or water.

On a blustery cold night, dozens of community leaders and business executives spent the night sleeping outside on the grounds of Covenant House.
