Detroit’s MotorCity Casino to reopen Dec. 23 following revised coronavirus restrictions
DETROIT – The MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit is preparing to open its doors to the public on Dec. 23 thanks to loosened coronavirus restrictions announced this week. The MotorCity Casino Hotel will reopen at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23, officials said. All casino and hotel employees will reportedly be tested for COVID-19 before the reopening date. Michigan on site sports betting will begin Wednesday
LANSING The first legal sports betting in Michigan will begin next week, state regulators said Friday. The Michigan Gaming Control Board is expected to give final approval after presentations by all three commercial casinos in Detroit soon. Online and mobile sports wagering through the Detroit casinos or tribal casinos is expected to start in 2021. Michigan legalized sports betting and online gambling in December. Casinos that open physical or online sports books will pay an 8.4% tax on receipts after winnings are paid out.
