Baker Mayfield finds himself in a familiar position — entering a game seeking revenge.

Sam Darnold threw a touchdown pass during the Carolina Panthers' 23-21 preseason-opening victory at the Washington Commanders to give him a highlight in the quarterback competition against Baker Mayfield.

Austin Ekeler scored three touchdowns, including a 3-yard score with 1:31 remaining as the Los Angeles Chargers defeated the Cleveland Browns 47-42 in a wild shootout Sunday.

In his 72nd NFL game, Henne atoned for an end zone interception with two huge plays to allow the Chiefs to escape with a 22-17 win over the Browns. Rodgers and Tom Brady, making his 14th conference championship appearance in 21 seasons, square off next week at Lambeau Field. If this was it, Brees went out with a whimper: 134 yards passing and three interceptions in the worst playoff game of his career. The Chiefs forced a punt and Henne got the ball back with just over four minutes left.

After trailing 19-3, the Browns (12-6) fought back and were in position to maybe end the Super Bowl champions' one-year reign. Two players, wide receiver Rashard Higgins and offensive lineman Jedrick Willis, were cited Tuesday morning for drag racing just outside of Cleveland. Officers tossed the joint on the ground and told Higgins to step on it and discard it. “I’ll be cool with you,” the officer told Higgins. Gary Vogel told Cleveland.com that such treatment is not unusual. “There has been a shift toward not citing people for this minor misdemeanor.”Willis, a rookie, has started 15 games on the Browns’ offensive line.

Safeties Andrew Sendejo and Karl Joseph along with rookie tight end Harrison Bryant were placed on the list Tuesday, giving Cleveland nine players on the list. It's not yet known if Sendejo, Joseph or Bryant tested positive for the virus or if they had close contact with an infected person. Browns coach Kevin Stefanski has been vigilant about keeping his players safe and following NFL and team guidelines.

After a 23-16 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday, the Browns will need to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday if they're going to end the NFL's longest playoff drought. The call was upheld by video review, and the Jets (2-13) sealed their second straight victory after an 0-13 start. Mayfield then marched the Browns downfield, and Nick Chubb's 1-yard run made it 20-10 with 2:56 left in the third quarter.

They learned Sunday morning they will be without starting rookie left tackle Jedrick Wills against the New York Jets because of an illness. The Browns will be missing receivers Rashard Higgins, Donovan Peoples-Jones and KhaDarel Hodge and linebacker Jacob Phillips. The Indianapolis Colts will be without both starting offensive tackles when they face the Pittsburgh Steelers. This comes after they placed LB Whitney Mercilus on the COVID list on Christmas.

With that said, here are the top waiver wire adds of the week heading into Week 14. Rivers has two strong matchups on deck; first, the Colts will travel to Las Vegas to take on the Raiders in Week 14. They then will welcome the Houston Texans to Indy in Week 15 before traveling to Pittsburgh in Week 16. With Fuller done for the year, Coutee stepped into a bigger role in Week 13 and went off. The Titans will take on the Jaguars in Week 14 and the Lions in Week 15.

The Browns had their best-scoring half ever, leading 38-7 at halftime, topping the 35 points scored in the second half at Cincinnati in 2004. The Titans made it interesting late, outscoring the Browns 28-3 in the second half. Mayfield became the first Browns quarterback to throw four TDs in the first half since Hall of Famer Otto Graham in 1951. That’s the guy that the Cleveland Browns know who he is. Tennessee opened the second half scoring back-to-back touchdowns within the first six minutes.

The rookie back took nine carries for 57 yards (6.3 yards per carry) and added one reception for 16 yards. It was the second straight week Hasty registered nine rush attempts, and in each game he averaged over 4.0 yards per carry. RB Tevin Coleman, San Francisco 49ers- Coleman has been out since Week 2 after suffering a knee injury in SF’s win over the Jets. Samuel suffered a hamstring injury in Week 7 and appears unlikely to be able to suit up for the Week 8 matchup in Seattle. WR Sterling Shepard, New York Giants- Shepard returned to the Giants lineup last week and immediately regained his role as Daniel Jones’ favorite WR target.
