The development leaves general manager Kevyn Adams taking over behind the bench for Buffalo’s game at Pittsburgh on Thursday night. This marks the second time the Sabres have been hit by COVID-19 in two months. Buffalo’s season was paused for two weeks in early February after nine players and then-coach Ralph Krueger were placed in the protocol. The university said the team went through seven rounds of testing in the seven days leading up to its departure for Albany on Wednesday.

Tanner said the combination of positive COVID-19 tests plus necessary contact tracing made it impossible to compete. In all, 16,222 COVID-19 tests were administered over a seven-day period ending last Saturday to 2,391 players, and 25,279 tests were administered to 4,536 personnel. South Carolina’s next scheduled game is at Kentucky on Dec. 29.

South Carolina fires football coach Will Muschamp

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina has fired football coach Will Muschamp, the second time he's been let go from a Southeastern Conference program in midseason. The school said in a release Sunday that Muschamp has been “relieved” of his duties with the football program. Athletic director Ray Tanner said first-year offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, a former head coach at Colorado State, will take over as interim coach. Tanner said he did a thorough assessment of the football program and decided it was time for a change. "I believe our program will be well served by Coach Bobo as the interim head coach as we search for a new leader for Gamecock Football.”Muschamp was head coach at Florida from 2011-14 and was fired in November of his final season after an overtime loss to Florida.

The Latest on the effects of the coronavirus outbreak on sports around the world:___South Carolinas highest paid head coaches are taking 10% salary cuts amid the coronavirus pandemic. Football coach Will Muschamp, mens basketball coach Frank Martin and womens basketball coach Dawn Staley are taking the cuts. Football coach Chris Creighton, mens basketball coach Rob Murphy, and womens basketball coach Fred Castro will be affected by the 7% cuts. ___The German basketball league plans to finish its season next month in a closed three-week tournament. The Premier League season was suspended in March with United fifth in the standings.
