Detroit Lions release outside linebacker Reggie Gilbert
ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions have released outside linebacker Reggie Gilbert after two days of padded practices. Flowers and Romeo Okwara, among others, are switching from defensive end to outside linebacker in the team’s base 3-4 defense. Anthony Pittman, the Detroit native and Wayne State standout, is making the move to inside linebacker. He has nine sacks in the two seasons since signing his $90 million contract with the Lions. He was one of the better pass rushers in the league and said he feels the opportunity to rush from the outside linebacker spot could play to his strengths.
