The Broncos' fourth-quarter comeback attempt gave Ryan and the Falcons a scary reminder of blown leads this season. Lock threw two touchdown passes and ran for a 10-yard score in the final quarter that made it 34-27. Lock answered with a 9-yard scoring pass to Tim Patrick with less than four minutes remaining. Between the injuries suffered in Week 6 and four teams having upcoming byes, this week will be an interesting one on the waiver wire. QB Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders– The Raiders are also coming off their bye week, which is probably why no one is talking about Carr’s recent performance. Running BacksRB Giovani Bernard, Cincinnati Bengals– Bernard didn’t do much in Week 6, but the injury to Joe Mixon could pave the way for Bernard to step in as the Bengals’ featured running back. Broncos top winless Jets 37-28 for first victory of season
On third-and-6 and the Jets leading by one, Quinnen Williams sacked Brett Rypien — but grabbed the quarterback’s helmet and prolonged the drive. Brian Poole then intercepted Rypien, making his first NFL start, on the Broncos’ next possession, giving the Jets the ball at Denver’s 44. Darnold gave the Jets their first lead of the season with a dazzling run that would make running back teammates Frank Gore and Le'Veon Bell proud. Darnold was able to come back early in the second quarter on the Jets' next series — and was promptly sacked again. The Jets took advantage — eventually.
