Jags' Etienne completes comeback by getting leveled in camp
Travis Etienne hadn’t been tackled so violently since his final college game nearly 20 months ago. The former Clemson standout and the Atlantic Coast Conference’s all-time leading rusher got leveled when Jacksonville coach Doug Pederson dialed up a lengthy stretch of live tackling during training camp Monday. 2021 NFL draft preview: Are the Detroit Lions set at running back?
This is the fifth of an eight-part series previewing the Detroit Lions’ positional needs and priorities heading into the NFL draft, which is scheduled for April 29-May 1. Detroit’s top three running backs form a solid trio for a team expected to pound the rock under offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn in 2021. Etienne seems to check all the boxes when considering what Detroit could be looking for at running back. Patterson was Buffalo’s offense last year in the pandemic-altered season, running 141 times for 1,072 yards and 19 touchdowns. DeVonta Smith is The Associated Press college football player of the year, becoming the first wide receiver to win the award since it was established in 1998, Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020. Jones received nine first-place votes and 67 points as he and Smith became the first teammates to finish 1-2 in the voting for AP player of the year. QB Uiagalelei rallies No. 1 Clemson to 34-28 win over BC
Uiagalelei stepped in for Lawrence on Saturday and rallied the top-ranked Tigers to a 34-28 victory over Boston College after they fell behind by 18 points. “It's the same mindset that I had this week,” Uiagalelei said. A jarring week for Clemson ended with its 28th straight win over league competition, 10th straight over the Eagles and 27th in a row at home. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney told his team at halftime, “Don't flinch.”“It's been a long time since we've been down like this,” he said. No. 1 Clemson wakes up late to beat Syracuse 47-21

Lawrence's 3 TDs lead No. 1 Clemson to 41-23 win vs Virginia
CLEMSON, S.C. – Trevor Lawrence was happy with Clemson's win over Virginia. Lawrence threw for 329 yards and three touchdowns as Clemson opened 3-0 for the sixth straight year with a 41-23 victory over the Cavaliers on Saturday night. However, like so often the past few years when pressed, Clemson and Lawrence found what it took to succeed. Rodgers had two TD catches in the final six minutes of the opening half to give Clemson a 24-3 lead that Virginia could not overcome. That's when Lawrence found Etienne for a final scoring throw to restore Clemson's momentum.
