National champion Alabama has five players leaving early after beating Ohio State in the CFP title game on Jan. 11, with All-America quarterback Jones and linebacker Dylan Moses both early graduates. The 30 players with college eligibility remaining after completing their degree requirements had to notify the NFL of their intentions for the draft. Players less than four years removed from high school who have not completed a degree need to be granted special entry to the draft by the NFL. The Detroit Free Press and NFL Network report Bevell is expected to become the next offensive coordinator in Jacksonville. Not too shabby of an opportunity for an offensive coordinator on the cusp of hitting the next level. The odds favor Smith who has caught 105 passes for 1,641 yards and scored 20 touchdowns so far this season. The Crimson Tide’s Jones completed 77 percent of his passes for 4,306 yards, an Alabama single-season record.

Former Michigan star Desmond Howard announced on his Twitter feed on Thursday night that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently in quarantine at his home. Howard said he tested positive this week and has some minor symptoms, including a cough and some muscle soreness, but overall feels good. “Outside of those symptoms, I feel good, but you have to take this very seriously because it’s a very tricky virus,” Howard said. Howard is the latest in a string of notable college football figures to test positive this week. Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence has also tested positive for the virus, the school announced on Thursday.
