Vest made the Mariners out of spring training and got off to a hot start in the regular season. This spring presented a new opportunity with the Tigers, with an abbreviated spring and an expanded roster. In his next outing after that disaster in Dunedin, Vest was pitching as a full-fledged member of the Tigers’ bullpen and it showed.

The moves didn’t completely clear up the final roster, however, as Hinch also hinted at unreported injuries that could affect the final roster.
