SVSU rallies to beat Northern Michigan, claim fifth consecutive win
Saginaw Valley State claimed its fifth consecutive win, earning a 33-21 victory Saturday in its final home game of the season. SVSU rallied from a 21-6 deficit to knock off Northern Michigan, using a 20-0 advantage in the second half for the win. Northern Michigan, 3-7, scored the next three touchdowns on a 57-yard run by Tyquan Cox, a 30-yard pass from Drake Davis to Wyatt Davis and a 20-yard TD pass from Davis to Davis. Colby Newburg, a freshman from Brighton, hit Isaiah Johnson-Mack for a 13-yard TD pass for the Cardinals to cut the halftime deficit to 21-13. Trevor Nowaske, a junior from Plymouth Salem, led the SVSU defense with 11 tackles, including a sack.

Minnesota is getting its star wide receiver back for an abbreviated Big Ten season. Minnesota announced Wednesday that Rashod Bateman was cleared to play this season by the NCAA and Big Ten after opting out in August. At Penn State, coach James Franklin closed the door on All-America linebacker Micah Parsons returning to the Nittany Lions. Both Bateman and Parsons opted out of the 2020 season before the Big Ten postponed amid concerns about the pandemic. Purdue All-America receiver Rondale Moore, who opted out early like Parsons and Bateman, was cleared to play for the Boilermakers last week.
