The developer behind a controversial data center project in Howell Township withdrew their application Monday afternoon, just hours before a scheduled public hearing.

The developer behind a controversial AI data center proposal in Howell Township has withdrawn their rezoning request and text amendment application, township officials announced Monday.

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a multi-vehicle crash on westbound I-96, just west of Pinckney Road in Howell Township.

He believes the crash was either a mechanical failure or an aerodynamic stall. The 68-year-old pilot lived in Webberville and was an experienced mechanic and pilot who had a love for skydiving. The plane will stay where it crashed until Wednesday when NTSB investigators arrive to take over the investigation.
