Visit Traverse City landmarks, earn free pie with spring travel ‘passport’
TRAVERSE CITY, MICH. -- Traverse City has baked up a fresh idea to encourage visitors to explore the outdoors this spring. Traverse City Tourism’s new “Spring into Activity” promotion features a mobile “passport” that offers rewards and a sweet treat for visiting some of the region’s most popular attractions. Once five activities are checked off on the mobile passport, the participant is eligible for a free slice of pie gift card from Grand Traverse Pie Company. In addition, guests staying at qualifying Traverse City hotels can check in and be entered to win a Traverse City vacation package that includes $500 in Traverse City Tourism gift certificates, a $50 gift card from Grand Traverse Pie Company, and $100 in Downtown Traverse City gift certificates. Trevor Tkach, president of Traverse City Tourism, said tourism to the region has grown dramatically in recent years.

Google on Wednesday announced that Google Maps now lets you pay for parking spots in more than 400 U.S. cities. Maps will also soon let you purchase tickets for 80 transit lines around the world, all without leaving the app. If it's available, all you have to do is tap "pay for parking," enter in your parking space number, confirm your vehicle color and enter in how long you plan to use the spot. It works on Android right now, but Google said the feature will come to iPhone users in the coming weeks. Google said Android users will also soon be able to buy transit passes from Google Maps.
