Crash between tanker truck, SUV floods Detroit street with diesel fuel

Fuel spills on Davison Street near Conant

DETROIT – A Detroit street is flooded with diesel fuel after a crash between a tanker truck and an SUV.

The crash happened before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, on East Davison Street just east of Conant in Detroit. Nobody was injured, fire officials said.

Aerial footage shows a tanker truck stopped in the turn lane facing east. There’s obvious damage to its fuel tank, which is leaking onto the road. The Detroit Fire Department said the truck’s tank was full, so about 100 gallons of fuel leaked out.

Firefighters blocked the two nearby sewers with dirt before hazmat teams arrived, but they believe some diesel fuel spilled into the sewers. Residents’ water is safe, but DWSD has been notified.
