Raising awareness: Neurofibromatosis initiative gains momentum in Detroit
In Detroit, buildings are illuminated in blue and green for Neurofibromatosis Awareness Month, highlighting efforts to tackle this rare genetic disorder. Leading the initiative is Dr. Ivan Baines, COO of the Nick Gilbert Neurofibromatosis Research Institute, named after Nick Gilbert, the late son of Dan Gilbert, a major donor to the cause. The institute focuses on advancing research, funding studies, and supporting clinical trials to improve treatment and quality of life for those affected by NF. Dr. Baines' personal connection to NF drives his commitment to the institute's mission.
