Old hospital to make way for DCFC Stadium

The Detroit City Council has approved a funding plan to reimburse the Detroit City Football Club for demolishing the vacant Southwest Detroit Hospital to construct a new stadium. Located near Corktown and Mexicantown, the hospital has been empty since 2007 and was acquired by the club in 2024. Demolition is set to begin in August and conclude by Spring 2026, with the soccer-specific stadium expected to open before the 2027 season.
