Legal battle to keep machine guns off Michigan streets intensifies
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, along with 15 other state attorneys general and the attorney general of Washington, D.C., has filed a lawsuit in federal court in Maryland to block a federal settlement that would permit the sale of forced-reset triggers. These devices can convert semi-automatic weapons into machine guns and are illegal in Michigan. The settlement, viewed as a federal government reversal, requires the return of previously seized or surrendered triggers by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The lawsuit aims to prevent these devices from increasing the lethality of firearms and posing increased risks to communities and law enforcement.
