Detroit to get new WNBA team as league expands
The WNBA announced its expansion to 18 teams by 2030, with Detroit, Cleveland, and Philadelphia joining the league. Detroit, which was previously home to the successful Detroit Shock, is excited to welcome back women's basketball. Pistons owner Tom Gores submitted the bid, and Vice Chairman Arn Tellem highlighted the unifying power of basketball in the community. The new Detroit team's name is yet to be decided.
