2 taken into custody in Detroit triple shooting that killed child, teen

Two individuals have been taken into custody in connection with a triple shooting on Detroit’s east side, which resulted in the deaths of 4-year-old Samir Grubbs and 18-year-old Daviyon Shelmonson-Bey at Skinner Playfield near Denby High School on June 27. A 17-year-old was also injured but is expected to recover. Initially, two people were detained and released, but police have since continued their investigation to identify the shooters.
