Detroit drive-by shooting injures 2 children, sparks calls for peace

Detroit police are asking the public to help identify the suspects responsible for a drive-by shooting that injured a 7-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy who were asleep in a home on Detroit’s east side. The shooting comes days after a 6-year-old was killed by a stray bullet. Leaders of Detroit’s Community Violence Intervention groups have ramped up outreach during a summer marked by violence involving children and teens and are holding a rally on Friday, Aug. 1, at Joseph Campau Avenue Church to call for an end to the violence.
