City of Detroit unveils statue, opens new 2-mile stretch of Joe Louis Greenway
The city of Detroit opened a new two-mile segment of the Joe Louis Greenway, which includes new sidewalks, bike paths, fencing, trees, lighting and emergency call boxes for safety. With these two new miles, nearly six miles of greenway have been completed, and six more are expected to be added by the end of 2026, according to the city. A new statue, created by artist Austen Brantley, that honors Joe Louis' impact in the world of golf, was also unveiled.
