New contract offers pay raises, bonuses for Detroit bus drivers
Detroit bus drivers will receive a significant pay increase under a new four-year contract announced by Mayor Mike Duggan. Starting pay will rise from $19 to $25 per hour, aligning with regional transit services, and maximum pay will increase from $26 to $32 per hour. The contract includes performance incentives and is partly funded by Governor Whitmer's transportation bill. This increase aims to recruit and retain drivers, enhancing transit reliability for over 500 drivers in the Detroit Department of Transportation.
