Judge orders power to stay on at Detroit apartment after last-minute funding deal

In a recent U.S. Bankruptcy Court hearing, the Leland House apartments in Detroit faced potential power shutoff due to an unpaid DTE Energy bill. A last-minute funding deal allowed the building's owner, The Michael Higgins Trust, to secure financing to pay the $57,000 deposit, thus preventing an immediate power cut. Judge Maria Oxholm ordered DTE to maintain power through the weekend, emphasizing the importance of resident welfare. A final hearing is set for January 12, contingent upon no payment defaults.
