Final pretrial date set for man accused of sexually assaulting, killing Detroit teen Na’Ziyah Harris

Jarvis Butts has been charged with sexually assaulting and murdering 13-year-old Na’Ziyah Harris, who disappeared in January 2024 and whose body remains undiscovered. A final pretrial date has been set for Jan. 23, 2026, ahead of the jury trial on Feb. 23, 2026. The prosecution and defense differ on the number of potential witnesses, with estimates of 80 and three, respectively. Butts also faces charges in a separate case involving the sexual assault of an 8-year-old relative.
