Kinsel Drugs, Detroit's first 24-hour drug store, opened in 1894 at Michigan Avenue and Griswold Street. It was a community staple, offering everything from deli meats to electronics. On Christmas Eve 1977, the store was bustling with last-minute shoppers seeking gifts and essentials, highlighting its popularity and reliability. The store was demolished in 2000, and the Griswold apartment building now occupies its former location.
