Detroit joining Michigan program that gives cash to expectant mothers for essentials

Detroit is set to launch Michigan State University's Rx Kids program, offering financial assistance to expectant mothers to alleviate poverty and support early childhood needs. Mayor Mary Sheffield announced the initiative, providing a one-time $1,500 payment during pregnancy and $500 monthly for the first six months after birth, aiming to improve health outcomes and reduce poverty among Detroit's children.
