Detroit Land Bank reforms gain support with new mayor on board

Detroit City Council member Mary Waters is advocating for reforms to the Detroit Land Bank Authority, proposing a balanced control structure between the mayor's office and the city council. Waters aims to empower the council by having half of the board members appointed by the mayor and half by the council, with one joint appointment. Newly elected Mayor Mary Sheffield, who supports Land Bank reforms, could help advance these changes. While the Land Bank's CEO, Tammy Daniels, defends the organization's achievements, Waters pushes for a renegotiation to better assist Detroit residents.
