A Detroit couple who recently bought a duplex in Midtown is confronting a staggering property tax bill that exceeds their down payment, spotlighting a growing challenge for homebuyers in the city. Christa Hegedus and Steven Marsicano, originally from Tampa, Florida, purchased their duplex for $465,000 in November 2024. They planned to live in one unit and rent out the other.
