2 deaths, 1 plea deal: Desmond Burks admits guilt in Detroit neurosurgeon’s killing, road rage death

The trial of Desmond Burks ended before it began on Wednesday, as Burks took a plea deal on the second day of jury selection. Burks pled guilty to several counts in connection with the killing of 53-year-old Detroit neurosurgeon Dr. Devon Hoover and 67-year-old Dearborn resident Reda Saleh. Burks was accused of killing Hoover at his home in April 2023 and fatally punching Saleh in a separate road rage attack one year later in April 2024.
