Future of Gordie Howe Bridge questioned after Donald Trump post despite testing phase

With major construction now complete, the Gordie Howe International Bridge is entering a critical new phase, testing and commissioning. Crews are inspecting and testing every system needed to safely operate the bridge and ports of entry before traffic begins. This phase is designed to ensure the bridge is fully ready when it opens to drivers on both sides of the border a little later this year. However, it’s unclear whether the bridge will ever open, after President Trump said on Monday (Feb. 9) that he’d stop it from happening.
