Detroit's unkept vow: Water break recovery lags
For families who live in southwest Detroit, last February’s water main break wasn’t just a flooding event. The damage left behind includes cracked foundations. In one case, the cleanup process removed lead abatement inside a home. Nearly a year later, some residents say the city didn’t deliver on its vow to make residents whole. However, the Detroit Water and Sewerage Dept. and Great Lakes Water Authority stand behind their response and efforts during the recovery.
