Man who killed well-known Detroit neurosurgeon to be sentenced

Desmond Burks, who initially denied involvement, admitted guilt and awaits sentencing for the murder of Detroit neurosurgeon Dr. Devon Hoover and a separate road rage assault resulting in the death of Reda Saleh. Burks was charged with multiple offenses, including second-degree murder for Hoover's death and manslaughter for the road rage case. The investigation revealed an intimate relationship between Burks and Hoover, with evidence placing Burks at key locations and linking him to stolen items. Despite his plea, Burks faced a competency hearing and was found fit to stand trial, leading to his conviction on multiple charges.
