Full arraignment: Teen charged in crash that killed 9-year-old girl on Detroit’s west side

A 19-year-old named Gregory Bester Louis Austin has been charged in connection with a fatal crash on Detroit's west side that resulted in the death of 9-year-old Fatoumatu Diallo. The incident occurred on the night of February 20 at the intersection of Tireman Avenue and Southfield Road, where Austin allegedly ignored a red light and collided with another vehicle while speeding at 70 mph in a 30 mph zone. The crash also injured a 53-year-old woman, and video evidence showed no indication of braking. Austin, who was arraigned from a hospital bed on February 24, faces multiple charges, including reckless driving causing death and driving with a suspended license, with his bond set at $50,000.
