Questions surround man charged in Detroit assault near triple-homicide scene
A 27-year-old man named Lance Clowney, with a history of violent crimes, is facing new charges for assault with intent to murder and assault with a dangerous weapon in Southwest Detroit. This incident occurred near the scene of a recent triple homicide, though Clowney has not been charged in connection with the murders. Despite multiple felony convictions, including carjacking and armed robbery, Clowney was released on parole in January 2025. Questions have been raised regarding the parole process, as Clowney committed another offense in May, which was reduced to disorderly conduct, but the Michigan Department of Corrections has yet to respond about whether his parole was reviewed in light of this new offense.
