Charles H. Wright Museum to mark Battle of Adwa anniversary

The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History will host a free program commemorating the 130th anniversary of the Battle of Adwa. The Battle of Adwa, fought in 1896, is remembered as the moment Ethiopian forces defeated an invading army and secured the nation’s sovereignty. The anniversary is often framed as a symbol of resistance, dignity and self-determination across Africa and the global Black diaspora.
