What to know about event focusing on women entrepreneurs in Detroit
It’s Women’s History Month, and this weekend, female founders and entrepreneurs are coming together to inspire one another and highlight all of the important work being done in Detroit. You may have heard of Black Tech Saturdays. It’s a movement started by Alexa and Johnnie Turnage that brings people together for workshops, STEM events, and more. The event on March 28 is a women’s founder takeover of Black Tech Saturdays. It’s highlighting the growth of female entrepreneurs. Female founders now start nearly half of all new businesses in the U.S. -- that’s up from 29% in 2019. To talk about the event, we’re joined by Alexa Turnage, the co-founder of Black Tech Saturdays, and Sarah Khan—she’s the founder and CEO of Go Grow Playgrounds. That’s an eco-conscious indoor playground and family event space.
