Poll: Majority of Michigan voters back plan to turn Belle Isle into ‘special economic zone’

A majority of Michigan voters and more than two-thirds of Detroit voters support a proposal to turn Belle Isle into a “special economic zone” featuring high-income, mixed-use housing, entertainment and a retail district, according to a poll released this week.
