Detroit cracks down on abandoned Greenfield Road complex after viral social media posts
The City of Detroit has taken action against the owners of an abandoned apartment complex on Greenfield Road, following repeated complaints from residents about persistent trash and illegal activity. Multiple city departments, including General Services, police, and construction teams, conducted a major cleanup and removed squatters, while blight tickets were issued on-site. Despite previous cleanups, the property has quickly returned to a state of disrepair, prompting the city to conduct weekly checks and increase patrols. Detroit’s Law Department is now preparing a lawsuit against the property owner, who has recently stopped cooperating with city officials.
