Move Detroit initiative aims to grow city’s population, economy with new coalition

The Move Detroit initiative is a citywide effort aimed at growing Detroit’s population by retaining current residents, welcoming back former ones, and attracting newcomers. Supported by over 50 organizations and led by businessman Dan Gilbert, the coalition combines city promotion with practical support such as housing assistance and small-business funding. A central feature is the Neighborhood Ambassador Program, which will engage about 100 residents to help shape programs and share Detroit’s story.
