Former Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore learns sentence on 2 misdemeanor charges

Former Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore was sentenced to 18 months of probation, fines, and mandatory mental health treatment after pleading no contest to two misdemeanor charges related to his inappropriate relationship with former staffer Paige Shiver. More serious charges, including stalking and unlawful entry, were dismissed due to inconsistent evidence, though Shiver and her attorneys criticized the university and legal system for failing to fully address years of alleged abuse and a violent incident in which Moore broke into her apartment and threatened self-harm. Moore is prohibited from contacting Shiver and is due for a review hearing in October 2027. The case has raised broader concerns about oversight and accountability within the University of Michigan’s athletic department.
