State of Michigan touts record recycling rate

Michigan's recycling rate has reached a record 26 percent, nearly double what it was just six years ago, conservationists announced on Earth Day. The state's rate stood at 14 percent in 2019, climbed to 23 percent in 2024, and has now hit 26 percent in 2025. The milestone comes as more than one billion people across 190 countries are expected to mobilize Wednesday in support of sustainability, environmental restoration, and ecosystem health.
