Metro Detroit students are cutting their way into careers — literally

Macomb Community College in Metro Detroit has received a $1 million donation from the Gene Haas Foundation to expand its advanced manufacturing program, specifically in CNC machining. The investment will provide hands-on training for students, preparing them for high-demand careers in fields such as automotive and aerospace. Students like Ashley Pfeil and Noor Alsaigh report gaining valuable skills and securing jobs even before completing the program. College leaders emphasize that the funding will help address the growing need for skilled workers in the region.
