Car crashes into Evans Terminal at Detroit Metro Airport; person detained

A car crashed into the Evans Terminal at Detroit Metro Airport around 10 a.m. on May 29, 2026, temporarily closing the terminal and resulting in one person being detained by police. According to a witness, the driver avoided cement barriers by driving onto the sidewalk and yelled at a woman who was injured in the incident. The Evans Terminal reopened within an hour, and operations at the nearby McNamara Terminal were unaffected. This incident follows a similar crash at the McNamara Terminal in January, after which new barriers were installed.
