Oakland County school funding millage headed to August ballot

Oakland County voters will decide in August on a proposed 1.5 mill increase in property taxes to fund schools, which would raise taxes by $300 a year on a $200,000 home and provide an additional $781 per student annually for six years. Supporters argue the funds are necessary to address rising school costs and maintain competitiveness with neighboring counties, while opponents express concern about the growing tax burden, especially for those struggling financially or without children in the schools.
