Pontiac mom found competent to stand trial in child abandonment case

Kelli Bryant, a mother from Oakland County, was sentenced to two years’ probation for welfare fraud after collecting public assistance for her children while leaving them to live alone in squalid conditions. Authorities discovered her three children, ages 15, 13, and 12, surviving in a home filled with garbage, mold, and feces, with food delivered by services but no basic hygiene supplies. Bryant was found competent to stand trial on three counts of first-degree child abuse. Her trial on those charges is set for August 24, 2026.
