Metro Detroit community donates shoes, tools, resources through Go 4 It events
A community initiative is continuing to make an impact across Metro Detroit, thanks to the support of sponsors and viewers who have donated thousands of dollars, supplies, and resources to local organizations. The “Go 4 It” events have helped address community needs through several recent efforts, including a basketball shoe drive and a tool donation campaign. In April, community members donated nearly $8,000 and 400 pairs of basketball shoes during the “Hoop Dreams Shoe Drive,” helping provide new footwear and resources for local youth. More recently, viewers donated more than 500 tools to help stock the Bailey Park Tool Library, allowing residents to borrow equipment for home improvement projects and community work. Representatives from several organizations joined the discussion about the impact of the donations, including Katrina Keeby-Watkins from the Bailey Park Neighborhood Development Corporation and Sgt. Bryant George from the Detroit Police Department and Detroit PAL. Darnell Adams from the Gilbert Family Foundation and Robin Damschroder from Henry Ford Health also highlighted the importance of supporting the monthly “Go 4 It” efforts. The organizations serve as sponsors for the community events.
